2014 Shabbaton at JTS
Last year we held a very successful Shabbaton in February 2014 at The Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City. We are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to reconvene Traditional-Egalitarian Jewish student leaders from college campuses across the country. We anticipate building on many of last year’s achievements, while also engaging new leaders who want to join a burgeoning movement to invigorate engaged, committed, and passionate Traditional-Egalitarian Jewish life on campus.
Last year, students joined both their peers and Jewish professionals for a weekend of learning, prayer, and growth—a weekend dedicated to assessing the state of Traditional-Egalitarian Jewish life on college campuses and to paving a way for the growth of these communities. Leaders of our movement took advantage of the opportunities to develop a wide network of fellow leaders, to share their respective experiences of building robust communities on campus, and to learn community-building strategies from experts. The message we received from participants upon the conclusion of the event was unequivocal and unanimous: a regular gathering of student leaders is essential to developing and maintaining vibrant Traditional-Egalitarian Jewish communities on campus.
